“Love is…. Love is not… (1 Corinthians 13)”
We have all heard the expression, “He loves me, He loves me not…”! We can all rest assured that the LORD always, unconditionally, irrevocably loves us. The Greek word Agape is used by the writers of Scripture to convey the concept of how much God loves us. Agape is the very nature of God and is a Love that is not based on emotion, feelings, or sentiment, but solely on an act of God’s will. Agape is an unconditional love given freely to all without any thought of reciprocation, nor with any strings attached to it. It is sacrificial love personified in the Lord Jesus Christ.
As a child of God, you have this Agape love inside of you.
In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 the Apostle Paul lays out 15 points to help us determine what God’s love is and what it is not. He penned this well-known portion of Scripture not to be read at weddings, but to the most problematic and immature church that he had established.
Join us this Sunday (2/18) as we allow the Holy Spirit to mature His Love in us, so that this God-kind of love will be manifest in everything that we do, everything that we say and in every relationship that we have.
