Happy Birthday Jesus

Two of the most familiar Scriptures about the birth of the Messiah are found in the book of Isaiah and are written approximately 700 years before the Incarnation.
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” (Is 7:14)
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Is 9:6)
It is wonderful that we honor the Babe born in Bethlehem at Christmas. However, notice in these two Scriptures, the emphasis seems to be on the Son that was given, not just the Baby that was born.
As we celebrate Jesus “birthday” we should also acknowledge that He is the Son of God that took upon Himself flesh, to become the Son of David.
When we honor a family member, friend or a famous person on their birthday, it is not solely about the day of their birth. Our recollections and memories are usually about their life accomplishments, who they are and how they have impacted us.
This Christmas as you gather with family and friends remember that the “Baby in the manger” is the Incarnation of God. Also though, take time to thank Jesus for all that He has done for you and how He has dramatically impacted and changed your life.
Join us this Sunday, Christmas day at 11 am as we celebrate Jesus birthday with worship, carols, the Word, the lighting of the menorah and communion!
